A community petition for a road-wide safety assessment
3 signatures so farTo: Taos County Public Works Department, Attn: Debra Chavez, Director; Taos County Board of Commissioners
We, the undersigned residents, property owners, and concerned community members of County Road 110 and the surrounding area, respectfully request a comprehensive traffic safety assessment and appropriate improvements along the entire length of County Road 110.
This rural roadway serves homes, agricultural properties, equestrians, pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and visitors accessing public lands and recreational trails. It also passes through habitat used by native wildlife, including bighorn sheep, mountain lions, black bears, elk, and other species. We ask the county to assess wildlife movement and crossing risks along this route, and to coordinate with appropriate wildlife agencies where warranted.
Please initiate a road-wide safety assessment, including wildlife-crossing concerns; identify priority locations; provide a written response with findings and proposed measures; outline a reasonable implementation timeline; and offer residents an opportunity to participate in the review.
Our objective is safe shared use of County Road 110 while protecting residents, recreational users, horses, native wildlife, and the rural landscape.
